(we hate the polar ice caps, set the shapes free and let the ice run wild)
The title foregrounds a failure to account for a gap between how we apprehend the world and how the material world functions. Perhaps echoing the depicted Ford sign font, I use unconventional letter spacing alongside an entangled, rather than measured, syntax of both illusional space, and the picture space assembled by each viewer from semi-translucent painted acrylic strips, paper background, and the gap in between them which sometimes enables ambient shadows to form. Ambivalent about whether news events possess exteriority or interiority, this work shares a topology of (non)violent meeting places, screens and various manifestations of eco disaster.
